DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Descriptive text ini adalah suatu teks yang menjelaskan atau mendeskripsikan orang orang, binatang atau suatu benda baik bentuknya, sifat-sifatnya, jumlahnya dan lain-lain.
Tujuan dari descriptive text adalah untuk menjelaskan, menggambarkan atau mengungkapkan seseorang atau suatu benda.
The purpose of a descriptive text is mainly to describe to a particular person, object or place. It consists of two parts: identification, which identifies the phenomenon to be described; and description, which describes parts, qualities or characteristics of the person, object or place being described.
Struktur Descriptive Text (Generic Structure)
- 1. Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan, berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu topik.
- 2. Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau orang yang dideskripsikan. Misalnya sifat-sifat, tsmpilan fisik, dan hal lain yang dituliskan dengan spesifik.
Example:
I have a best friend, the name is Mellinda Salsabila. She is often called Mellinda. She is Muslim, she uses a hijab. She has white skin, height is 157 cm, weigh is 40 kg, kind and very beautiful.
We are always together. We always exchange opinions. We also have the same likes, we really like BTS and GFRIEND, they are a South Korean boy/girl group. Yeah.. we are ARMY and BUDDY ( fans of BTS and GFRIEND). A.R.M.Y (아미) & BUDDY ( 버디)
≫ Noun Phrase for Describing an Object or a Place
As mentioned before, a descriptive text mostly uses adjectives to modify or describe the nouns. They from noun phrases. A noun phrase is a series of words where a noun as a head is preceded by an adjective as a modifier.
Adjectives modify or describe nouns or noun phrases , to give more information about the nouns or noun phrases. A few adjectives precede the nouns or noun phrases. See the following examples.
• Mount Leuser National Park is a magnificent park

• Raja Ampat is considered an important site for marine biodiversity

≫ Word Order of Adjectives
From the previous task, we have studied noun phrases consisting of adjectives and nouns, such as amazing islands , best destination and pristine environment. Adjectives in the phrases are called opinion adjectives because they describe our opinions about something. If we want to give more information, we can add more adjectives to modify the thing (noun) we describe. For example, in addition to the opinion adjectives, we can also inform the size, color, age and origin of the thing (noun).
Observe the following examples and pay attention to the order of the adjectives (modifiers). Remember the common word order of adjectives before a noun.
